BBFC Create the Card Competition - Wicked: For Good

Create magic by entering our spellbinding Create the Card Competition.

We’re offering one child, aged between 4 - 11, the chance to design the official BBFC Black Card for Wicked: For Good, in partnership with Universal Pictures. We are delighted to be teaming up with Universal Pictures to launch the latest Create the Card Competition, celebrating the magical return to Oz in Wicked: For Good, arriving in UK cinemas on 21 November 2025.

Teacher Support

Deliver our Create the Card Competition as part of your art and design and PSHE / PMUD curriculums. We have a range of free classroom resources for you to use to support children’s learning and introduce the competition to your class.

Get your whole school or year group excited about the competition with our free downloadable assembly PowerPoint presentation. The presentation introduces children to the BBFC, our age ratings and our Create the Card Competition. To help you deliver the presentation, we’ve put together a handy teacher pack. The teacher notes include suggested extension activities, including our brand new game, Trailer Tag! and our Rate a Trailer resource. Download our teacher pack now.

The competition perfectly complements our free Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 PSHE resources which include teacher guidance, lesson plans and activities that help your pupils as they learn to navigate the fast-changing world of online content.

Entry Requirements

We encourage all young artists to watch the latest trailer to embrace the full spectrum of Oz’s magic and meaning for their designs. Whether it’s Glinda’s radiant charm or Elphaba’s fearless strength, we want to see original concepts inspired by the world of the film - don’t forget, pink goes good with green!

The artwork must be the participant's own, and we can’t accept any entries that use images taken from films or online or those which have been created using AI tools. While competition entrants are invited to depict any aspects of the world of Wicked, those who choose to include Glinda or Elphaba must feature both characters together to represent the iconic Oz duo.

Artworks should be created on a landscape A4 piece of paper. Entrants should include all their details on the back (see below for more details). A template is available to download HERE

As the artwork will become the official Black Card for the film, please ensure that any design takes into consideration the space we will need to include the age rating symbol, film title and BBFC content advice. We will also add other important information, including the signatures of our President, CEO and winner(!), as well as the film’s unique code, and our BBFC logo.

The competition is open to all residents of the UK, including the Channel Islands, aged 4 - 11.

Each entry must include the following on the back:

  • Child’s name

  • Child’s age

  • Child’s school (if applicable)

  • A parent/guardian/teacher name

  • A parent/guardian/teacher phone number

  • A parent/guardian/teacher email address

Design top tips

  • Bright, colourful designs that fill the page will produce the best results;

  • Any medium can be used: paint, felt tip, biro, collage etc. Colouring pencils can be used, but they don’t translate well on the big screen, so we recommend using a different medium if possible;

  • Remember to leave space for all the important information, including the age rating, film title and content advice. There's no need to include this in your artwork - we'll add this to the winning design;

  • Please do not use glitter;

  • If creating a collage, please do not make the sheet thicker than two pieces of paper;

  • Please don't fold the artwork; use staples or sellotape;

  • Avoid metallic finishes over large areas as this can make the image difficult to turn into a Black Card;

  • Most importantly, make sure the design is inspired by the Wicked world.

Here are some examples from our Sonic The Hedgehog 3 competition, which was also open to entrants aged 4 - 11.

A panel, including BBFC President Natasha Kaplinsky, representatives from Universal Pictures and other special guests will oversee the selection process. Then, a special guest judge from Wicked: For Good will select the winning design.

Not only will the winner see their Black Card on the big screen in front of every UK cinema screening of the film but they will also receive a BBFC goody bag, along with some Wicked merchandise. They will also need to be available in early November to travel to London and participate in a special winner’s day experience (all expenses covered), where they will be able to attend an exclusive screening of the film. Nine runners-up will receive a BBFC goody bag and personalised Black Card.

The BBFC's Create the Card Competition is a very special event, and we're always excited to showcase the winner's creativity and hard work. In the past, winners and their families have participated in promotional activities, including radio and television interviews. We’d love to involve the winner of this competition in any of our press activities and will be inviting the winning participant to take part in a range of press and media activity. We will seek parental consent for all media participation.
