Let’s Watch a Film! Making choices about what to watch
This resource is aimed at Key Stage 2 learners aged between 9 -11 (Years 5 and 6), and is accredited by the PSHE Association. The resource aims to support children to make safe viewing choices as they begin to make more independent viewing decisions, particularly online.
The lessons allow older primary school learns to consider issues such as:
What age ratings are and how they work
Why regulations and rules are in place
The suitability of content
How to make their own decisions about what to watch
How to resist pressure to watch something they’re unsure about
Where they should go for more information when deciding what to watch, and how to steer clear of content that might be unsuitable
The resource pack includes two lesson plans with accompanying classroom presentations, activity sheets and guidance notes for teachers.
For educators in England, our resource supports strand H37 and H42 of the ‘Keeping Safe’ module in the PSHE Association’s programme of study.
For educators in Northern Ireland, our resource supports the module ‘Keeping Safe’ in Strand 1 of the Personal, Mutual and Personal Development curriculum.
