Watch out! Helping to make good viewing choices
This resource is aimed at Key Stage 1 learners, or children aged between 4 -7, and is accredited by the PSHE Association. The resource aims to support children to identify our age ratings and understand how they can use them to help them make safe viewing choices, particularly online.
Lesson objectives include:
To understand that there are age-ratings that can help us make choices about what to watch
To learn how to make good viewing choices that are right for a person’s age
To learn about what to do if someone watches something that makes them feel upset or worried.
The resource pack includes two lesson plans with accompanying classroom presentations, activity sheets and guidance notes for teachers.
For educators in England, our resource supports strand H28, H33, H34 of the ‘Keeping Safe’ module in the PSHE Association’s programme of study.
For Northern Ireland, our resource supports the following strand of the Foundation PDMU curriculum:
i) Health and Safety - Exploring appropriate personal safety strategies
ii) Information and Communications - Understand how to keep safe and display acceptable online behaviour.
