threat and horror
A person becomes lost while swimming along a perilous stretch of the English Channel, however, other characters band together to help them. A character is left with no choice but to swim through a swarm of jellyfish; there is a focus on her bravery as she does so. A man fires a warning shot at a boatload of photographers during a brief scene of very mild comic threat.
language
Mild bad language ('ass', 'bloody') is accompanied by even milder terms such as 'hell'.
discrimination
Characters express sexist attitudes towards women and girls. A man discourages his young daughter from participating in sports, a police officer measures the length of a woman's swimsuit, and a trainer forbids a female swim team from mixing with male athletes. However, these sexist attitudes are reflective of the historical period in which the film is set and are clearly condemned by the work as a whole.
nudity
There is natural male buttock nudity; however, this is fleeting and presented within a comic context.
injury detail
There are welts across a woman's body after she is stung by jellyfish and brief sight of blood when a butcher is seen washing his hands,
theme
A fever-stricken girl becomes increasingly unwell with measles, but quickly makes a full recovery. A man is shown taking tablets to treat seasickness and briefly vomits off-screen. A swimmer becomes unwell after drinking tea which she later suspects was poisoned.
