Yash Chopra's Veer-zaara

A sudden gunshot rings out and a woman falls to the ground in what is subsequently revealed to be a dream sequence. A short scene shows a bus falling over a cliff and exploding in the distance; we are told that the people on board were killed, but no casualties appear on screen.

Infrequent very mild bad language includes ‘hell’ and ‘God’.

A musical interlude contains a brief and mildly suggestive sequence wherein a woman imagines the man she loves undoing the back of her dress, stroking her bare back and kissing her neck.

An unlikeable male character mocks a female lawyer, claiming that she’s doing ‘men’s work'. In another scene, a woman successfully persuades a man that it is unfair to deny women and girls an education on the basis of their gender. The film clearly criticises sexism, and carries a positive message of acceptance across religious, cultural and national divides.

There is occasional emotional upset, including brief scenes of bereavement.

A sexist man aims a flirtatious remark at a woman in a professional context, but she ignores the comment. Later, a man openly stares at a woman on a bus but quickly moves away when another man intervenes.
