violence
There are shootings, bomb explosions and aerial dogfights between fighter planes. A teenage girl slaps another.
language
There is infrequent strong language ('f**k') and milder terms which include 'shit', 'bastard', 'bollocks', 'bugger', 'damn' and 'hell'.
injury detail
A man caught in a bomb blast is left with blood over his clothing. There is brief sight of blood spatter over rocks in the aftermath of a shooting. We see people with mildly bloody bandages escaping fires.
sexual violence and sexual threat
A man makes verbal references to rape in relation to a Nazi 'breeding' programme that a teenage girl has been recruited into. In flashback scenes implying sexual violence, a man kisses a woman and grabs at her thigh before she shoots him.
additional issues
Characters display racist and antisemitic attitudes, with one talking about 'inferior races', but discrimination is not condoned by the work as a whole. We see characters kissing and there are mild verbal references to sex and adultery. There are scenes of bomb threat, fires and air raids in which people try to escape crumbling buildings, as well as soldiers pinned down by sniper fire. A sandstorm engulfs a group of people. Characters grieve for lost loved ones.

violence
Scenes of war violence occur, including shootings and use of grenades and mortars, resulting in explosions. There is sight of a wounded soldier's bloodstained clothing in the aftermath of a shooting.
threat and horror
A frightened teenage girl is taken into custody and interrogated by Gestapo officers. Other scenes of moderate threat include characters hiding from German soldiers.
language
Infrequent strong language ('f**k') occurs, as well as milder terms such as 'shit', 'bastard', 'balls', 'bugger', 'arse' and 'Jesus'.
sex
A teenage girl expresses her disapproval over her friend’s willing participation in a programme to ‘produce babies’ for the Third Reich.
additional issues
Verbal references are made to 'racial purity' within the context of Nazi eugenics. Racism is not condoned by the work as a whole. A nurse tends to a mildly bloody wound on a man's forehead. A character discovers a dead soldier, however, this lacks any visual detail. Scenes of mild emotional upset include references to death and bereavement. Infrequent scenes of mild rude humour also occur.

sexual violence and sexual threat
A young German woman who has committed herself to the Nazi regime discovers she is to be used as a breeding machine for the Third Reich, and has to accept male partners who select her for this purpose. She is clearly reluctant and feels sexually threatened by the arrival of a German officer in her room; however, the scene cuts away from the subsequent scene of sexual violence which is briefly and discreetly implied, and is negatively presented.
additional issues
There is brief sight of wound detail, including a bullet wound, and scenes featuring cut and bloodstained men. However, these scenes are brief and lack emphasis. The episode contains infrequent strong language ('f**k'), as well as milder terms (for example, 'bloody', 'shit', 'God', 'damn', 'hell'). A German soldier beats a black man with a truncheon. A fight scene includes crunchy repeated blows to the head and brief sight of a man throttling another man. There are references to racism and scenes of racist behaviour. A British solider offers water to a parched German soldier before offering the canteen to a similarly thirsty Indian army officer. There are references to Nazis liquidating Paris of black people because of their skin colour. Racism and racist behaviour is clearly disapproved of by the work as a whole. There are scenes of threat in which people are pursued by and hide from advancing Germans, as well as scenes in which a British fighter pilot is pursued by German fighter planes. A female nurse refers to earlier thoughts of taking her own life; however, she states that she no longer feels like doing so.

threat and horror
In a prolonged scene of moderate threat, soldiers face off against tanks firing explosive shells and bullets toward them, as they attempt to provide coordinates for a counterattack.
language
There is infrequent use of strong language (‘f**k’) as well as use of milder terms (‘bloody’, ‘shit’, ‘arse’, ‘bugger’, ‘hell’).
additional issues
There is historical discrimination, including an army officer's attitude towards an Indian regiment he commands, and a woman's brief sexist comments. However all discrimination is contextualised as a product of the time period and very clearly condemned by other characters in the scenes. There are references to a man committing adultery, and having a child with a woman who was not his wife. Small amounts of blood are visible on the faces of characters who have been injured as a result of violence. A pregnant woman collapses suddenly, and a doctor prescribes bed rest for the duration of her pregnancy.

A female prisoner of war has a black eye after it is implied she has been beaten. There is also some emphasis on a soldier suffering in a stretcher, with blood on his face.
additional issues
