VAMPYR is a 1932 horror film in which a student of the occult visits a village which is under a vampire’s curse.
VAMPYR is a 1932 horror film in which a student of the occult visits a village which is under a vampire’s curse.
violence
A man activates a mill while another man is inside, burying the trapped man in flour and causing him to suffocate. A ghost pushes a man down a staircase off-screen: we hear him scream and then see his body sprawled on the ground, without visible injuries. We see another man collapse and die after an off-screen shooting, but there is no sight of blood.
threat and horror
An eerie tone runs throughout the film, and there are scenes of mild horror. For example, a man experiences visions of his own dead body lying in a coffin with his eyes still open, and of a skeleton holding out a bottle of poison. In another scene a corpse is discovered near a small, dark patch of blood. There are also occasional verbal and visual references to vampires drinking blood.
language
There is infrequent use of mild bad language (‘bastard’).
additional issues
There are brief non-graphic references to vampires attempting to drive their victims to suicide in order to damn their souls for all eternity. Other issues include occasional scenes of smoking.
