There are strong horror images, including people who have drunk polluted water being attacked from inside their bodies by tendril-like organisms which emerge through their flesh in gory fashion. The dead body of a small child who has been infected disintegrates as it is picked up.
Strong violence includes shootings, a strangling and a person being struck repeatedly with a baseball bat. There is bloody detail in the aftermath of violent events.
A troubled character self-harms in secret.
There is occasional strong language ('f**k'), as well as milder bad language such as 'shit', 'badass', 'asshole', 'screw you' and 'bitching'.
There is brief moderate sex. There is brief drug misuse as two characters share a joint.
