sexual violence and sexual threat
In a prolonged scene, it is revealed verbally that a girl's older brother has previously sexually abused her. Although there is no visual detail, the references are both upsetting and harrowing, and it is clear that the abuse has caused the girl to suffer long-term trauma.
theme
There are several distressing scenes concerning a girl's refusal to eat. The child's parents and community elders eventually decide to allow her die, and there are scenes in which the girl becomes physically weaker and vomits. In one scene, the girl's tooth falls out and she briefly dribbles blood.
There is a clothed sex scene in which a man thrusts into a woman; however, there is no strong detail. The film contains infrequent strong language ('f**k'), as well as very mild terms (for example, 'Jesus Christ'). A woman briefly consumes unidentified medication. Drug misuse is not condoned by the work as a whole. There are also brief scenes in which a woman pricks her finger and licks the blood.
