violence
A wicked witch inflicts violence on some fantasy characters, including a scarecrow and a tin man, but their fantasy nature means they are not actually harmed or able to feel pain. The same witch threatens to throw a dog into a fire, to persuade the heroine to give up her shoes, but this doesn't happen.
threat and horror
There are some scary scenes, notably when the film's heroes are menaced by some trash cans with teeth in an underground station. However, the scenes are brief and reassuringly resolved.
language
There is infrequent very mild bad language ('hell').
