THE SHADOW OF THE CAT is a 1961 black and white British horror film, in which a cat sets out to avenge the murder of her mistress.

VIOLENCE
A woman is clubbed to death by an attacker, with several clear blows to her head and shoulders. She falls to the ground dead before her body is carried away to be buried in a shallow grave. There is no sight of blood or injury on her body. Various other characters are also killed in accidents, including drowning in mud, falling down stairs or falling from a roof. One victim is seen to dribble a small amount of blood from his mouth as he dies.

Other issues include a cat being caught in a cage before it is put in a sack. Later it is seen hanging out of a hole in the sack and using one paw to run along the ground as the sack is carried. There is no evidence on screen to suggest the cat was hurt or distressed in any way. Some characters are seen to smoke cigarettes.
