Strong violence includes sword slashings, stabbings and shootings which result in extensive bloodshed. A woman has a vision of a demon ripping open her throat with clawed hands. A woman is subjected to various forms of torture as she is pressured into confessing that she practices witchcraft; the methods of torture are limited to their establishment only, but the bloody consequences are seen in the the aftermath. A man's head is crushed in gory fashion by the wheel of a wagon which has been deliberately driven over it. A religious zealot flagellates himself as he prays.

A woman is attacked by a man and her dress is torn as he declares his intention to rape her; the women fights back and burns the man's hand with a metal poker drawn from a fire, which drives him off.

There are images of the corpses of plague victims buried in pits or piled onto wagons, with faces and bodies covered in livid sores. A dog feeds on the remains of a plague victim. There are images of bodies hanging by the neck, some as a consequence of suicide and others as a result of executions. There are also images of the faces of women burning as they are executed on bonfires for the crime of witchcraft. A woman who has survived being immolated displays healed burn injuries to her face.

There is moderate sex featuring riding and thrusting, but no strong nudity. There is moderate threat, some of a supernatural nature.
