There are a number of scenes of violence, accompanied by bloody injury detail. These include a woman being pecked to death by a bird of prey; two men taking it in turns to cut their own arms with daggers, and various other stabbings and slashings, and people being set on fire.
There is supernatural threat throughout. In one sequence, a woman consumes a ceremonial drink which causes her to experience visions or hallucinations. She imagines being attacked by a succession of characters whose appearances are racially insensitive. There is also a scene in which two unlikable men leer at a little girl and make knowing remarks about 'corrupting' her.
