Strong violence includes bludgeoning blows and use of improvised weapons such as a mallet, a hatchet and a nail gun. A person’s finger is cut off, creating a spurt of blood. Highly stylised animated sequences depict heads and limbs being severed, resulting in strong bloody detail. There are also disturbing flashback depictions of domestic abuse, during which a man repeatedly whips his young sons, and has their dog killed off-screen.

Strong scenes include kidnappings and threats of torture, mutilation and death.

There is use of strong language (‘f**k’). Milder terms include ‘cock’, ‘prick’, ‘shit’, ‘douchebag’ and ‘crap’.

There are occasional scenes of mental health discrimination, including use of terms such as ‘retard’ and ‘loony’. The term ‘faggot’ is used in an aggressive manner. Other scenes contain brief and undetailed references to the Holocaust and the Nazi regime.

A kidnapping scene contains a brief moment of sexual threat.

A character with a psychiatric disorder attempts suicide on multiple occasions, all without graphic visual detail. Another person repeatedly punches a table, resulting in brief sight of blood. There are also occasional verbal references to suicide and self-harm.

Strong injury detail in the aftermath of violence includes a severed finger, pools of blood, and blood on people’s faces and clothing.

The theme of emotional trauma and mental health disorders runs throughout the film.
