violence
Scenes of strong bloody violence include a teenage girl's hand being partly split open by an axe blow. We see a character hacked in the shoulder by an axe, resulting in sight of blood over their face, body and surroundings. We see blood spurts during other axe attacks, although the blows themselves are mostly hidden. There is sight of bloody dead bodies in the aftermath of violent attacks. A character appears to strike a baby with an axe handle in an off-camera attack, but this is revealed to be a dream sequence.
threat and horror
There are jump scares and scenes of strong, sustained threat as characters are stalked through dark or secluded areas by an axe-wielding attacker. Supernatural forces seem to be influencing characters' behaviour and there are scenes of distressed people screaming and crying in fear. The lives of young children, including a baby, are at risk of murder.
language
There is strong language ('fuck') as well as milder terms which include 'bitch', 'shit', 'dick', 'Jesus', 'Christ', 'God', 'damn' and 'hell'.
sexual violence and sexual threat
There are references to incest and child sexual abuse. We are told a man has sent a teenage girl a picture of his penis; we later see him looking at what seem to be social media pictures of her and holding an item of her clothing when it is implied he intends to masturbate.
suicide and self-harm
There are scenes of self-harm in which a teenage girl cuts and pinches herself.
additional issues
It is implied a teenage girl masturbates when she puts her hand down her trousers and moves it between her legs. There is a brief verbal reference to chlamydia. There are undetailed references to mental health concerns, including personality disorders and schizophrenia. Characters take prescribed medication for mental health issues. People make undetailed verbal references to 'getting high' and cocaine use.
