There are frequent scenes of strong and bloody violence such as stabbings and shootings with blood spurts. A man forcibly causes another to overdose by inserting needles filled with drugs into his chest. A woman's eyes are bloodily pecked out by a crow. A man is impaled on a gargoyle and another is stabbed through the chest with a sword.
threat and horror
Scenes of strong threat include a child being abducted by a violent gang of criminals. There is also gun, bomb and knife threat. A dead man emerges from his own grave.
language
Use of strong language ('motherf**ker', 'f**k') is accompanied by moderate ('bitch', 'whore') and milder terms such as 'son of a bitch', 'asshole', 'shit', 'crap', 'dickhead' and 'butt'. A man make the middle finger gesture.
sex
Brief moderate sex scenes occur. A man makes a crude thrusting gesture. A man comments that he has had sexual relations with his half sister.
drugs
Characters inject heroin and snort cocaine. There is also joint smoking and a man swallows an unnamed drug in pill form. After a woman injects heroin, a man squeezes her arm forcing the drug to seep back out.
sexual violence and sexual threat
A young woman is raped and beaten by a violent gang: there is an emphasis on her fear as she is brutally attacked by the men and held down. Visual and verbal references are made to the sexual violence throughout the film. In the aftermath of an implied sexual assault, a woman's dead body lies in a bed and a man callously comments to a woman that they must have 'broken her'.
injury detail
Violence is often accompanied with bloody detail. A woman is discovered heavily beaten with blood covering her face and body. A dead man is stretchered out by the police with a large number of knives sticking out of him. A man deliberately burns his tongue with a cigarette leaving two burn marks on it.
nudity
There is brief breast and buttock nudity.
