The Choral

Verbal references are made to the violence of the First World War, with some brief description of the situation faced by soldiers in No Man's Land.

A brick is thrown through a window, startling the people inside the building.

There is infrequent strong language ('f**k') along with milder terms which include 'shit', 'bugger', 'sod', 'bloody' and 'God'

A woman briefly masturbates a man who has lost an arm in battle; this is presented discreetly, with actual sexual activity out of camera frame and implied through arm movements. It is implied that other characters have sex off-screen. There are verbal references to sexual activity and attraction, virginity, STIs and also to sex work.

Discriminatory terms such as 'Fritz' and 'Hun' are used in reference to German people; these occur in a historical, wartime context. A man is subjected to abuse over allegations that he is a collaborator and there are also subtle derogatory references to a man's homosexuality.

Soldiers with dressed injuries are shown returning home from war, but there is no sight of blood.

A man strips naked in front of a woman he is sexually attracted to; there is brief sight of his buttocks with no other detail.

Characters grieve for men killed in the First World War.

Characters drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes.
