There are references to a woman having been abducted by a group of men, beaten, imprisoned, and forced to marry one of the men for fear that her mother would be killed if she refused.
There are mild scenes of sexist behaviour, including scenes in which a man scorns the idea of helping his wife with ‘women’s’ chores. There are also infrequent verbal references to systemic racism in the USA. The film carries a clear anti-discrimination message. In another scene we see actors performing a play in which a woman tussles with her drunken husband and threatens to beat him.
