violence
A man is stabbed during a brawl, resulting in brief bloody detail. One person strikes another’s face with a mallet, creating a spurt of blood. Over the course of a sustained and intense sequence, a police officer is forced to beat his adult son with a stick as punishment for the son’s criminal activity. Another scene features a crunchy sound effect as a terrified woman is struck with a metal baton off screen. Moderate fight scenes and beatings feature heavy but undetailed blows. There are also brief, non-graphic verbal references to a woman having been abused by her husband.
threat and horror
The film contains scenes of moderate threat, including aggressive and threatening behaviour directed towards frightened characters. In one scene we hear brief sounds of a woman screaming during an off-screen knife attack.
language
Bad language includes ‘shit’, ‘bloody’, ‘crap’ and ‘God’, in addition to partially obscured use of the term ‘son of a bitch’.
discrimination
An unsympathetic character mocks a man for having a ‘crippled’ wife.
sexual violence and sexual threat
A police officer forces his way into a woman’s home with the implied intention of sexual violence; however, he is intercepted and arrested before he can enact his plan.
suicide and self-harm
A man discovers the dead body of a loved one who has taken his own life off screen. In another scene a villain threatens to kill himself rather than face arrest. Neither scene contains graphic detail, however.
injury detail
There are strong images of dead and injured people covered in blood in the aftermath of violence.
theme
We occasionally see people in distress following the deaths of loved ones.
