violence
In one short film, people plan an assassination on two politicians and reference the manner in which they are going shoot them. The assassination attempt is shown, and gunshots are fired, but the shootings occur mostly off-screen; in the aftermath, dead bodies are shown, some of which have blood on them. In another film, riot violence occurs in which police beat protestors.
threat and horror
Characters have guns pointed at them. Throughout one short film, there is an unsettling eerie tone which culminates in a man deciding to taxidermy himself whilst alive; the man is shown consuming chemicals during this process, and becoming frustrated, which leads him to damage a room and throw an axe into a wall. In another film, a man is held hostage by gangsters and, it's implied, beaten after he tries to escape.
language
There is infrequent strong language ('f**k'), as well as use of milder terms including 'bitch, 'shit', 'crap', 'jerk' and 'damn'.
discrimination
A man tells a Hong Kong woman, of South Asian descent, that she is not Chinese and should 'go home' and that she is 'a stupid Pakistani'. He pushes her. His behaviour is immediately challenged by another character.
sexual violence and sexual threat
A person compares a political situation to being like a 'rape'.
suicide and self-harm
In one film, there are frequent verbal and visual references to self-immolation in the context of political protest. These references culminate in sight of a person setting themselves on fire. There are also other images of political protesters on fire.
injury detail
Characters are shown with blood on them in the aftermath of violence.
alcohol and smoking
A character is briefly seen smoking.
flashing/flickering lights
This work contains flashing images which may affect viewers who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy.
