violence
A prolonged scene of violence includes repeated blows, and the use of improvised weapons (for example, a cricket bat, a large pot). The scenes ends with one person lying dead whilst another is badly injured. There are also scenes in which people are beaten and slapped; at one point an adult character is repeatedly rammed into metal window shutters by an angry parent.
threat and horror
There is a prolonged scene in which a criminal begging forgiveness is pushed into an open grave and buried alive. In another scene, two men force their way into a house where they intimidate and threaten the occupants.
language
Strong language ('behenchod') occurs, as well as implied strong language ('motherf**ker', 'f**k'), and milder terms ('whore', 'bastard', ass', 'hell').
sex
There are references to sex workers and brothels. In one scene, it is implied that a brothel customer obtains sexual gratification through voyeurism.
discrimination
There are scenes of sexist behaviour in which sex workers and a rape victim are described as 'shameless'. However, sexism is not condoned by the work as a whole.
sexual violence and sexual threat
The film deals with the consequences of a reported rape; so, accordingly, there are multiple references to sexual violence. Many of these references occur during cross-examination in court, and during which the victim's experiences are trivialised by a defence lawyer who also casts doubt on whether the victim was really raped. Characters briefly manhandle and sexually threaten women. A person talks about how her mother was forced into sex work by circumstances and also explains how she herself subsequently turned to sex work at the age of thirteen.
suicide and self-harm
A criminal tauntingly asks a parent what would happen if his adult child took their own life.
injury detail
Scenes of injury detail in the aftermath of violence include those in which characters' faces and clothes are bloodstained. A rape victim's face is moderately bruised in the aftermath of sexual volence.
theme
Scenes of emotional upset include those in which a distressed rape victim showers fully clothed and, following which, she and her father cry.
flashing/flickering lights
This work contains flashing images which may affect viewers who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy.
