A fight breaks out between teenage characters; punches are thrown and characters scuffle. In one brief and comic scene, a girl wrestles a boy, getting him into a headlock.

There is frequent strong language ('f**k', 'motherf**ker'), as well as milder terms including 'dick', 'cock', 'twat', 'bitch', 'boner', 'arse', 'piss', 'tits', 'shit', 'ass', 'hell', 'Jesus' and 'God'. There are also rude gestures.

A young couple passionately kiss and, before sex, they discuss whether this will be their first sexual experience; after finding a condom, sex is briefly depicted with some thrusting detail. Verbal sex references are occasionally crude and strong and include references to oral sex and virginity.

There is infrequent use of the discriminatory term 'retard'.

Young people crush prescribed medication and snort it, mimicking illegal drugs. A teenage boy is described as looking 'like a heroin addict'.

A character briefly jokes he'll take his own life.

A teenage boy 'moons' his friends, briefly exposing his buttocks.

There are several scenes in which teenage characters frankly discuss their experiences of living with, or being in remission from, cancer. Sometimes, these scenes depict characters in states of emotional distress. Bereavement is also a theme explored in the film. There are also references to mental health and scenes that show a young person participating in talking therapy.

Underage characters are depicted drinking alcohol.
