Scenes of violence are strong and impactful, including a child bludgeoning a man to death, use of improvised weapons such as bleach and hammers, as well as gun and knife violence. A man is emotionally and physically abusive towards a child, and there are verbal references to him being abused in the past.

There are sustained scenes of threat throughout as a family slowly realise they are unsafe. Adults and children are both subjected to prolonged threat, including gun threat, and a home-invasion scenario.
