SKINFLICKER is a British found-footage short thriller, from 1973, in which a group of radicals plan to abduct and murder a public figure.
threat and horror
With sustained threat throughout, a group of people are shown plotting and carrying out an abduction, with the stated intention of killing their victim. A scene shows one of the kidnappers aggressively threatening the frightened victim with a knife and a lit blowtorch. However, the actual murder occurs off screen. Another scene shows a person preparing to take their own life by placing a shotgun barrel in their mouth.
language
There is use of strong language (‘f**k’). Milder terms include ‘cock’, ‘arse-lick’, ‘balls’, ‘sod’ and ‘piss’, in addition to use of the ‘V-sign’ gesture.
injury detail
We see bloodied dead bodies slumped against a blood-spattered wall in the aftermath of gunfire. There are also brief images of an undetailed dead body swinging from a noose.
additional issues
There are non-graphic references to sexual violence, including child sexual abuse. Scenes of moderate violence include a brief sequence in which the kidnappers wrestle with a young boy when he tries to stop them from abducting his father; the boy is then shown lying unconscious on the ground, his nose moderately bloodied. There are infrequent undetailed verbal references to pornography.
