SILENT HILL HD COLLECTION is a combined release of two survival horror games - SILENT HILL 2 and SILENT HILL 3. In each game the player character attempts to solve a mystery whilst being attacked by various otherworldly creatures. The collection was classified '15' for strong violence and horror.

The violence during gameplay largely involves the player character encountering waves of non-human enemies and fighting them off with a variety of weapons, including guns and knives. The bullet impacts and blows are accompanied by a variety of sound effects and blood spurts. However, there is no opportunity to dismember enemies or to inflict damage on them after death, as the bodies disappear quickly. Some balance to the violence is provided by the extensive puzzle-solving elements that are necessary in order to make progress through the game. The violence is accompanied by a strong sense of horror, with images of corpses littering the game environments, but this is simply part of the sinister atmosphere that is established very early on The game is therefore appropriately classified at '15' where the BBFC's Guidelines state 'Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable'.
