violence
Strong violence features shootings which result in bloodshed and bloody aftermath injuries. A woman is attacked, punched in the face and choked, but an intervention spares her from further punishment. A young boy is manhandled and thrown through a window in undetailed fashion, leaving him with blood on his head. There are also verbal references to war violence, including the killing of prisoners of war.
sexual violence and sexual threat
A woman whose economic circumstances have compelled her to work as a prostitute submits to the sexual coercion of her employer who gropes and has sex with her; the scene is without nudity or other eroticising elements, and the focus is on the vulnerable woman's attempts to shut out what is happening to her. In another scene, the woman is with a man she has befriended whose mood turns and he demands sex, and throws himself on her; the woman resists and the man's actions change to physical violence.
suicide and self-harm
A man contemplates taking his own life, and off-screen gunshots imply suicides being carried out.
additional issues
There is moderate threat with guns and other forms of physical menace. Former soldiers traumatised by their experiences of warfare are shown in unsettling, mentally disturbed states. It is implied that a woman has contracted a sexually transmitted disease. There is infrequent very mild bad language ('damn').
