violence
There are brief but strong scenes of violence involving hand to hand fighting and use of weapons such as bats, canes, knives and nunchucks in clips from films which include A Clockwork Orange and The Warriors. We see real life moments of violence with footage and pictures of rioting in London from the period.
threat and horror
Scenes of brief threat and horror include a man's neck and head stretching and mutating into a monstrous creature, sight of zombies overwhelming a man, and people experiencing supernatural illnesses causing unnatural deformities. There are moments of gun threat and we see a horror character dancing with a chainsaw.
language
There is infrequent very strong language ('c**t'), strong language ('f**k) and milder terms which include 'whore', 'pussy', 'piss', 'shit', 'turd' and 'bloody'.
sex
Clips from films briefly show penetrative sexual intercourse with sight of a penis, as well as scenes of people in fetish-wear and references to BDSM. These include naked women on leashes being humiliated, crawling on all fours and having food thrown to them. There are references in the documentary to people having sex in cinema toilets and in darkened areas of the theatre.
discrimination
There are verbal references to discriminatory attitudes toward gay people and also to historic racist attitudes.
drugs
There are verbal references to drug misuse, with mention of marijuana, amphetamines, LSD and magic mushrooms. There are impressionistic depictions of joint smoking and of drug-induced hallucinogenic experiences.
suicide and self-harm
There are references to the suicide of a man who suffered from depression.
injury detail
Clips from films shown at the Scala cinema contain strong bloody images, including sight of an exploding head and a bloody hand rising from a bath.
nudity

rude humour
We see a comic, caricatured illustration of a man urinating from his seat, with sight of his penis, and of a man's buttocks as he seems to be having sex with another cinema-goer.
