Saffron Kingdom

People are heard being taunted, beaten and shot dead by gangs of soldiers in front of their distraught families. A man shares a first-hand account of being shot and nearly killed by police. Other scenes include gunfire, as well as references to violence and torture.

There is a prolonged scene of strong threat in which soldiers storm into a house and drag a man out as his terrified wife and child are forced to watch. News reports and flashback scenes depict rioting and unrest as soldiers forcibly take control of a region. Tense phone conversations take place between a woman trying to flee a country to safety and her worried family.

There are aggressive uses of strong language ('motherf**ker', 'sisterf**ker', 'f**k'), as well as milder terms including 'bastard', 'bloody', 'shit' and 'God'.

The theme of the film is the conflict in Kashmir and there are references to the persecution of people in the region.

There are references to soldiers committing acts of sexual violence against women during attacks.

There is sight of a dead body in a pool of blood. Dead bodies are seen from a distance lining a bridge after a massacre.

Upsetting moments arise due to trauma, bereavement and the impact of violence on multiple generations.
