violence
Strong violence includes shootings, a throat-slashing and a blow with an axe, with resultant bloody detail. A person is gruesomely impaled on a tree branch during a fight. Other people are burned alive, resulting in distressing sounds of screaming but no gory visual detail. There are occasional moderate crunchy fistfight scenes. During a flashback scene we see a man slap his young daughter across the face.
threat and horror
A woman and her young child are stalked by a killer during scenes of strong threat. A villain kidnaps a pair of victims, pours petrol over them and sets them on fire, resulting in prolonged screaming. The film also contains moderately intense sequences involving traffic accidents.
language
Bad language includes ‘shit’, ‘bloody hell’, ‘damn’ and ‘God’.
sex
An adulterous couple are shown kissing and starting to remove their clothes, but they are interrupted before they go any further.
discrimination
A news reporter repeatedly refers to a person who escaped from a high-security mental health facility as a ‘mentally-retarded man’. There are occasional scenes of sexism and references to sexist behaviour, which is implicitly condemned.
sexual violence and sexual threat
While interviewing a female job candidate, a male employer makes a series of suggestive comments insinuating that she will be expected to provide him with sexual favours. The candidate reprimands him for his behaviour and leaves the interview.
injury detail
There are occasional strong bloody images in the context of violence, including blood spurts and close-up sight of a tree branch protruding from a person's torso.
theme
The film contains references to mental health, infrequent scenes of bereavement, and brief non-graphic references to stillbirth.
