There are moderate scenes of aggressive and threatening behaviour. A man contemplates bludgeoning a sleeping person’s head with a rock.

Men repeatedly address an older woman as ‘old hag’. Sexism is not endorsed by the work as a whole, however.

A person attempts suicide but is saved by the intervention of another, who berates him for the attempt.

A new bride is portrayed as unhappy but resigned after being forced to marry an unlikeable man.
