A girl bites a man on the neck resulting in profuse and projectile blood loss from his neck. There are occasional gory images, such as bone protruding from a girl's arm after her hand is shot off.
There are scenes of strong threat, sometimes sustained, involving kidnapped teens trying to escape from a local serial killer. The serial killer and the teen protagonist form a strange friendship, with the man becoming protective of her but ultimately taking advantage of her vulnerability. In one scene, he appears as if he is about to kiss her. The protagonist develops feelings for the kidnapper, evident in a scene of strong sex in which she listens to a pornographic video and recalls the man while she masturbates.
