OSLO, AUGUST 31ST is a Norwegian film about a young man visiting his friends in Oslo on day release from a residential drug rehabilitation program. The film was classified ‘15’ for strong language and hard drug use. The film contains nine uses of strong language which are allowable at '15' where the BBFC's Guidelines state 'There may be frequent use of strong language'. The Guidelines at ‘15’ also state ‘Drug taking may be shown but the film as a whole must not promote or encourage drug misuse’. OSLO, AUGUST 31ST includes a scene in which the young protagonist is shown preparing heroin, using his belt as a tourniquet and injecting himself. Despite this detail the film contains a strong anti drug message and it neither promotes nor encourages drug misuse.
