There are scenes of domestic abuse when a man pushes his son around his apartment, causing him to trip and hit his head on the edge of a table. In another scene a man is briefly beaten by a debt collector and retaliates by holding a blade to his throat when he threaten to hurt his son.

A gangster threatens violence against an autistic tenager in a briefly intense scene. In another scene the young man becomes distressed and disorientated in a new environment and tries to run away.

The film features moderate bad language ('prick') and uses of 'ass', 'bastard', 'crap', 'hell' and 'God'.

References are made to a 'doggie style' sex position and there is a scene in which it is implied a man and woman have sex on a couch, but there's no strong detail.

A man calls his autistic son a 'retard'; however his behaviour is not endorsed by the film or the other characters.

A brief undetailed reference is made to a drug dealer.

After a scenes of violence a teenager has blood on his head.

A man licks his lips when a female social worker walks past him and says 'I wonder how well she rides'. His friends tell him to show more respect.

There are comic references to 'poop' and a scene in which a teenager falls asleep on the toilet.

Upsetting scenes include a young man crying at his mother's death bed. He is later shown grieving in a prolonged scene of emotional upset.
