Scenes of domestic abuse include a scene in which a husband hoists his wife onto his shoulders and carries her out of a room whilst she physically and verbally displays both resistance and anger. In another scene, a teenager is repeatedly slapped by his mother. A character displays controlling behaviour towards his girlfriend. A person recalls how his father used to regularly beat him.
