NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE: HENRY V is a recording of a live performance of Shakespeare’s play in which a young ruler leads England’s forces into battle with France.

violence
During a scene of execution by hanging we see the victim choking, struggling and kicking for several seconds. A prisoner of war’s throat is cut, without visible blood. Other scenes feature moderate war violence and threat involving guns and knives, and there is also a brief moderate image of a man whose face and head are covered with blood.
language
There is infrequent very strong language (‘c**t’) and use of strong language (‘f**k’). Milder terms include 'cock', 'arse', ‘bloody’, ‘bastard’ and ‘balls’, in addition to use of the ‘middle finger’ gesture.
drugs
There are infrequent images of people snorting cocaine and taking pills.
flashing/flickering lights
This work contains flashing images which may affect viewers who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy.
additional issues
There is a short scene of attempted suicide. A man shouts aggressively at a woman and forces her to kiss him against her will, and another scene features brief verbal reference to the ‘violation’ of ‘maidens’ by enemy soldiers. Other issues include moderate sex references and rude humour.
