MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM is a 1933 horror film in which the disappearance of people and corpses leads a reporter to sinister sculptor who may be the person responsible.

A woman is menaced by a sinister man, she slaps his face which cracks and reveals his facial deformity. The man then straps her to a table and prepares to pours hot wax over her to preserve her.
discrimination
A woman describes a man's face as resembling "an African war mask', to which a police officer replies, "Do you mean he was coloured?". The woman then claims that 'Frankenstein' was 'lily white' in comparison.
drugs
There are several references to a male drug addict being a "junkie", and the police leave him in a cell overnight to make him desperate for a fix so that he will confess the following morning.
The film also contains mild violence, images of dead bodies, brief undetailed suicide references, and scenes of smoking which reflect the time in which the film was made.
