MOTHER, MAY I? is a US horror thriller in which a man suspects his partner has become possessed when her behavior towards him changes after the death of his estranged mother.

threat and horror
There is an unsettling tone throughout as a man suspects that his girlfriend is possessed. Scenes include jump scares and whispers in the dark. In one scene the man pushes his girlfriend into a lake, where she nearly drowns. In another scene something grabs a woman in the dark as she explores a cellar.
language
The film features strong language ('f**k') and uses of 'shit', 'ass', 'God', 'damn' and 'hell'.
additional issues
Some polaroid photos attached to a social services document show a boy with bruises on his arm and a bandage on his foot, implying he was a victim of physical abuse. There are also references to a mother being neglectful of her son, and using injections to control his behaviour. Moderate sex references include a scene in which a man and woman kiss each other in the bath, but they are interrupted. A woman is shown holding a bagful of 'magic mushrooms' and is later accused of taking them whilst pregnant; however drug misuse is not glamourised. There is some brief focus on blood when a man cleans a stain from the floor where his mother was found dead.
