MAN-MADE MONSTER is a 1941 US black-and-white sci-fi thriller film in which scientific experiments transform a man into an electrically-controlled thrall.

violence
There is a short sequence of implied strangulation, but the characters are positioned so that we see nothing but the killer’s back; we are later told that the victim’s neck was broken during the attack. People try to strike or whip the electric man, but the contact electrocutes the attackers, making them glow and then collapse. There are brief references to a man having been beaten during his childhood in an orphanage.
threat and horror
We see a bus overturn and crash into a pylon, without sight of casualties, and another scene shows people and horses escaping a burning hay cart. A scientist performs fantastical experiments on a man which remove his free will and make him glow with electricity. Other people are frightened of the electric man, believing him to be a murderer.
additional issues
A man mentions his carnival act in which he manipulates electricity and puts his fingers into electrical sockets, but he acknowledges that most of his tricks are ‘phoney’. There are infrequent scenes of smoking.
