Strong violence features shootings, slashings and stabbings with bladed weapons, and heavy beatings, which result in bloodshed and aftermath bloody injury detail, and the deliberate asphyxiation of a man. Scenes of moderate, stylised violence include fistfights and the running over of a person with a car.

A man's unpredictable, volatile behaviour is characterised by an obsession with playing 'Russian Roulette', with guns to held to heads in sequences of escalating tension and fear.

There is infrequent mild and very mild bad language ('shit', 'damn').

A dancer is referred to dismissively as a 'cross dresser' and a female police commander encounters sexist attitudes towards her ability to do her job. Discrimination is not endorsed by the work as a whole.

Scenes in which a man snorts cocaine are accompanied by references to his addiction, and he is also seen chained-up by his father in a 'cold turkey' attempt to wean him off the drug, but his erratic behaviour poses a danger to himself. There are also references to the illegal drug trade.

A man takes his own life in undetailed fashion, and another person attempts to do so.

There are mild upsetting scenes centred on bereavement and a character's dementia.

There is occasional alcohol consumption.
