A man is physically violent toward a woman he is in a relationship with, sometimes striking her, and grabbing her by the wrist and face. He also holds and hugs her when she does not want him to do so, but there is no obvious sexual threat in these moments. The man behaves in a manipulative way, threatening to take his own life if the woman does not stay with him. Other scenes of domestic abuse include a drunk man attacking his wife and briefly fighting with his adult son.

A young woman says she feels scared and threatened by the behaviour of her ex-boyfriend, who is intent on continuing their relationship when she does not want to do so.

A woman attempts to take her own life but is saved and changes her mind. A man repeatedly threatens to take his own life and at one point seems to make an attempt; others stop him from proceeding.

A man's arm is left bloody after cutting it on broken glass.

A man drinks excessively, often behaving in an unpleasant manner as a result; he also frequently smokes cigarettes.
