violence
Violence is largely comic and accompanied by reassuring outcomes. An alien is shot at with tranquiliser darts and laser guns and electrocuted. There are also scenes in which people are accidentally struck on the head, kicked, or have mouth spray squirted in their eyes. In another scene, a child pushes a bully off a stage.
threat and horror
Threat is mitigated by comedy and reassuring outcomes. There are tense scenes in which characters are saved from drowning, as well as comic chase scenes. Spaceships crash, and in one sequence a house begins to collapse with people inside. In another scene, a child jokingly tells a social worker she practices jumping out of her bedroom window. A mischievous alien creature behaves in an antisocial manner, including starting fires accidentally, misusing kitchen implements and devices, and breaking glasses. However, this behaviour is often condemned by responsible adults, and is not condoned by the film as a whole.
language
Very mild bad language includes use of 'God', 'damn', 'hell' and 'butt'.
rude humour
Rude humour includes an alien dragging their backside along the ground, people picking their nose and licking snot, as well as comic references to 'butts', 'derrières' and 'wedgies'.
theme
After a spaceship crash-lands in the ocean, a character sinks before being retrieved and revived in front of upset onlookers. A young girl occasionally struggles with loneliness and bullying, and there are scenes in which she and her sister are at risk of being split up.
flashing/flickering lights
This work contains flashing images which may affect viewers who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy.
