sexual violence and sexual threat
There is a sustained scene of sexual threat wherein a terrified woman is grabbed, tied up and subjected to misogynistic taunting by a group of men, one of whom urinates on her. Other scenes feature non-graphic references to the men having subsequently raped her, though this is later revealed to be a false assumption. There are also moderate scenes of sexual harassment, including those in which a schoolboy boy harasses a female classmate.
There are upsetting scenes of emotional distress and bereavement. Other scenes contain outdated depictions of frenzied psychiatric patients, some of whom are chained up or kept in cells, at a dilapidated facility. We also see a woman convulsing while undergoing electroconvulsive therapy. A school bully twists a small girl’s arm and shoves her to the ground, but he is immediately disciplined by a teacher. In another scene one psychiatric patient briefly smothers another by covering the victim’s face with her hand. A young man hands a woman a love note written in his own blood, but she declines his advances; the bloody detail is not strongly realistic. Bad language includes ‘bitch’, ‘saala’, ‘hell’, ‘God’ and ‘jerk’.
