IVANHOE is a historical adventure drama, from 1952, in which a disowned knight fights to restore the English throne to Richard the Lionheart who has been kidnapped and held prisoner by the usurper Prince John.

violence
There is mild violence of a historical nature as rival groups battle with swords, axes, maces, bows and arrows, and exchange punches in occasionally prolonged fighting sequences. Riders competing in jousting tournaments are knocked from their horses with lances. The violence is, however, stylised and undetailed.
threat and horror
There is occasional mild threat with daggers and swords. Men chained to a wall are threatened with torture to extract information from them. A woman says she will kill herself rather than being compelled to marry a man, but her threat does not play out.
discrimination
There are episodes of historical racist behaviour directed at Jews who have fled their homeland at the time of the Crusades to medieval England. They are referred to as "infidels", stereotyped as being skilful at making money, accused of witchcraft and their faith is regarded as being inimical to Christianity. However, antisemitic attitudes are also challenged by non-Jewish characters who express clear disapproval of the persecution of Jews.
injury detail
There is infrequent sight of blood on clothing in the aftermath of medieval battles.
