There is strong violence throughout the film, including characters stabbing others with bladed weapons such as knives and axes, and shooting them with firearms. During such scenes there is frequent sight of blood spraying from victims' bodies, and occasional sight of characters cutting off limbs.

In one scene a character falls onto a stake which pierces the back of his neck and emerges from the front, and a character rams a pole into his enemy's eye, resulting in a spray of blood. In another scene a character is tortured with metal wires pressing into his face which are then tightened, leading to his decapitation with a large spray of blood.
There is a scene in which a horse's legs are cut to make it fall over, but an artificial animal is used. Language includes uses of 'bitch' and 'coolie', the latter in reference to poorly-paid workers. There is threat present, including in a scene in which a woman is held down and slashed across the face.
