A woman recalls briefly and with minimal detail witnessing her father’s physical abuse of her mother.

A woman walking alone at night is followed in an unnerving fashion by a man, but an intervention dispels the potential threat.

Infrequent strong language (‘f**k’) is accompanied by milder terms such as ‘crap’, ‘damn’, ‘jerk’, ‘God’, ‘Jesus’ and Christ’.

There is establishment of sexual activity as a man and woman remove their clothing, and a discreet post-coital scene in which a couple talk in bed. Undetailed references are made to pornographic films and birth control, and there are also comments about ‘friends with benefits’ and people sleeping with one another.

Sexist behaviour is demonstrated and referred to, and includes comments about culturally ingrained attitudes towards menstruation and female independence. There are also comic displays of homophobia and transphobia, but discrimination is challenged by the work as a whole.

A person is discovered in an unresponsive state and the circumstances suggest she has attempted to take her own life, but the situation has a different explanation and a reassuring outcome.

Very mild rude humour includes comic sight of an inebriated man urinating against a wall, and fart jokes.

A woman is shown to be dependent on alcohol about which she is in denial. Adult characters smoke.
