FREE BIRDS is an animated US film in which two turkeys travel back in time to the 17th century, in an attempt to remove their species from the menu of the traditional Thanksgiving meal.

Violence
There is occasional mild slapstick violence as the turkeys comically slap or punch one another. However, there is no blood or injury detail. In one scene a human character suddenly keels over and dies, and in another sequence an adult turkey sacrifices himself in order to ensure the survival of several young turkeys and some unhatched eggs. It is implied that the older turkey is crushed beneath falling burning debris, but nothing is actually shown. The film moves on quickly, leaving the viewer with little opportunity to dwell on this particular turkey's fate.
Threat and horror
The two turkeys find themselves in a variety of dangerous or scary situations, for example when they travel backwards through time, and when they and other turkeys are chased by snarling dogs. Such situations are mitigated by comedy and are always quickly resolved.
There is infrequent use of very mild bad language, including the terms 'bleeding' and 'heck'. The film also includes some very mild humour relating to the backsides of turkeys.
