threat and horror
BASE jumping footage is often accompanied by references to the high risk of injury and death entailed by the sport. The film contains infrequent footage of jumpers colliding with cliff faces or the ground, resulting in injuries such as broken bones and spinal damage, although the visible injury detail is minimal. Black-and-white footage from 1912 shows inventor Franz Reichelt jumping off the Eiffel Tower to test his parachute suit; we briefly see him falling through the air as the suit fails to slow his descent, but the image cuts to black before his impact with the ground.
language
There is use of strong language (‘motherf**ker’, ‘f**k’). Milder terms include ‘pussy’, ‘shit’, ‘balls’, ‘pissed’ and ‘asshole’.
sex
Sex references are mild and infrequent.
suicide and self-harm
There is a brief non-graphic reference to hypothetical suicide.
nudity
There is brief male rear and full-frontal nudity in a non-sexual context.
theme
References to off-screen BASE jumping deaths include footage in which we hear people start to become panicked or upset as they realise they can’t see where their companions landed. An interviewee cries while speaking about the recent death of their partner.
flashing/flickering lights
This work contains flashing images which may affect viewers who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy.
