Sequences of strong violence include blood spurts from shootings, stabbings and other blows and impacts. Men are tortured by police in order to extract confessions, including by being beaten and force fed to the point of vomiting. There are sequences of domestic abuse, including a husband striking his wife and a son choking his mother during a violent argument. A brief sequence implies an acid attack on a woman.

People are threatened at gunpoint and there are chase sequences in which people are pursued by criminals and police.

Infrequent moderate bad language includes implied use of 'bitch'. There is also sight of a rude hand gesture, as well as use of milder terms including 'damn', 'hell' and 'God'.

A group of male teens are subjected to a court-mandated medical examination to ascertain if they can achieve an erection. This includes anatomical illustrations of erect penises and implied masturbation. A woman is found in a man's bed during a post-coital scene, and there are occasional crude sex references. There is sight of sexualised dancing in a nightclub.

Drug misuse includes sight of heroin being prepared and injected, cocaine being snorted and rubbed into gums, crack cocaine being smoked, LSD tabs being ingested, pills being crushed, and marijuana being smoked and ingested in the form of edibles. There are visual and verbal references to drug dealing.

One of the film's main themes is sexual violence. The rape of a young woman by a group of men is shown repeatedly, including sight of the attackers thrusting on top of her, although there is no nudity. In another sequence, the police attempt to reconstruct what happened by forcing the accused to re-enact what occurred with an actress. Later in the film, a man is raped by a group of men, also without nudity or strong detail. A further scene features a young man, who is high on drugs, sexually threatening his mother.

A person attempts to take their own life by drinking poison. In another scene, a suggestion is made that people should take their own lives.

Blood and injuries are seen in the aftermath of violence and accidents, including graphic sight of a dead woman's severely injured body after she has been struck by a train. Bite marks and blood are seen in the aftermath of a rape, including as a woman showers and as she is inspected by medical professionals. Dead bodies are seen, including that of a child, following a car crash.

There are upsetting scenes relating to the film's central theme of sexual violence, as victims come to terms with what has happened to them and their loved ones. There is sight of the dead body of a child, who is killed in a drink driving accident.

Teenage characters smoke, vape and drink alcohol to excess. Adult characters become drunk and subsequently addicted to alcohol.
