A woman reflects on the controlling and emotionally abusive behaviour of her estranged husband, which she recognises in her elder son in his own marriage. A mother slaps her adult son and a man lashes out at his brother in moments of family discord.

A newly married couple act shyly and awkwardly on their wedding night. Referring to something else entirely, the groom asks a member of staff at the honeymoon resort if the sounds from their room can be heard outside it, and gets the knowing response that he and his bride are welcome to make as much noise as they want.

Two men talk patronisingly about the roles played by their respective wives which they perceive as causing difficulties, without acknowledging the faults in their own behaviour within their relationships. The film challenges such sexist attitudes.
