There are repeated verbal references to people smoking marijuana joints; there are also reference to people taking quaaludes, along with mention of nitrous oxide cartridges. We see reconstructions of people lighting and smoking what appear to be marijuana joints. There is discussion of drug dealing and news footage of the US 'war on drugs' which began in the 1970s.
